The Letter to the Hebrews
Among all the books in the New Testament,
the epistle to the Hebrews is unique in style and
content. Though some of its phrases are among the best known
and most often quoted passages, on the whole it is not well
understood among most Christians. The book of Hebrews
contains one of the most frequently used BENEDICTIONS in all
of Christianity. "Now may the God of peace, who brought back
from the dead out Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the
sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you
complete in everything good so that you may do is will,
working among us that which is pleasing in his sight through
Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever.
Amen." Class Facilitator: Reverend Dr. Ed Salvant

In the Beginning…
In the beginning
..... are the first words in Book of Genesis. Genesis
is a book that describes the beginning of Creation. The
creation of the world only takes up the first two chapters
of the 50-chapter book. The rest of the story is the story
of God’s purpose in beginning to form a people with the
likes of Adam & Eve, Abraham & Sarah, Jacob & Esau, and
Joseph & the family of Israel. This 10-week study is
facilitated by Pastor Fred.
Steadfast Hope
Steadfast Hope challenges common myths
and misperceptions about the origins of the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict, presents a compelling snapshot
of the present situation on the ground, and offers a guide
to the challenges that lie ahead in the quest for peace. The
Steadfast Hope study will offer inspiring views of the
activities currently being undertaken by Muslim, Jewish, and
Christian peacemakers working for justice and
reconciliation. Class Facilitator: Cathy Morgan.

(September - April)
Disciple
Bible Study emphasizes disciplined reading & listening to
Scripture that results in biblically nourished persons committed
to lives as disciples of Jesus Christ. Learners must begin with
Disciple 1, but continuing classes may be taken in any order.
Disciple 1: Becoming Disciples through Bible Study
is an overview Bible study from Creation of Genesis to the
New Jerusalem of Revelations. The principle Scripture for
each session follows the chronological movement of the
biblical story.
Disciple 2: Into the Word, Into The Word builds
on the biblical knowledge gained through the overview of Disciple
1. The emphasis shifts from the broad view to
the deeper, more detailed view. Genesis, Exodus, Luke and
Acts are reading assignments with appropriate passages from
other parts of the Bible.
Disciple 3: Remember Who You Are - The word YOU
in the title is meant to be heard both in its singular form and in its plural form
(the community). Not offered in the 2008-2009 academic year.
DISCIPLE 4: Under The Tree of Life
is the final study in the four-phase Disciple Bible Studies.
The image of the tree of life frames the biblical story: in
Genesis, in the midst of a garden, but off limits; in
Revelation, on either side of the river of the water of
life, with fruit to eat and leaves for the healing of the
nations. Disciple 4 concentrates on the Writing in the Old
Testament, Gospel of John and Revelations. Present through
the study is the sense of living toward completion - toward
the climax of the message and the promise pictured in
Revelations.
There is a $35 cost for Disciple Bible Study Materials*
Wednesday Mornings at 10:00 a.m.

throughout the Bible, including both the Old Testament and
the New Testament. Class Facilitator: Pastor Holly Hasstedt
