New Classes Begin January 8, 2012

Living In Hope
This class provides information about what it means to be a Presbyterian and specifically what it means to be a Hope Presbyterian, where we invite all to worship God, grow in faith, and follow Jesus by serving others. Class participants will learn the history, theology and governance of the church and will be able to discover great ways to connect through study, fellowship and service. Participation in these nine weeks of class is strongly encouraged as part of church membership, though not required. Hope members wishing to learn more about Presbyterianism are welcome to join, too! Location: MPR

Feasting On The Word - A Lectionary Based Bible Study
Adults see the world through the filter of life experience and life transitions. Adults enter Bible study and worship bringing with them this variety of views. The Feasting on the Word class will engage participants in a deeper exploration of biblical texts that are most often used on Sunday mornings. Participants' faith will be enhanced when the Scriptures read and proclaimed in worship are reinforced and expanded during their educational time. Education and worship can be mutually supportive in helping God's Word in Scripture come alive in the Sunday morning experience! Location: W4

Jeremiah

Jeremiah is one of the “major prophets” in the Old Testament along with Isaiah and Ezekiel. He lived during a time when there was unfaithfulness rampant among God’s people. He protested against the introduction of pagan practices that had all but erased the distinctive elements of Israel’s faith. His was a strong voice that called for a reformation—not just a superficial reform of traditional rites and practices, but a reformation that begins in the heart, the seat of human loyalties and affections. In fact, he used the expression “CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART” as a metaphor for “opening the heart,” the center of one’s being, so that it may be humbly submissive to the will of Almighty God. Here is a prophetic message needed for every age. . .including our own! In this class we will make our way through this lengthy. . .but extremely important. . . message for Almighty God’s people.

Facilitator – Rev. Ed Salvant  Location: W3

Ordinary Guys, Extraordinary Lives

Take It to the Limit

Overloaded?  Maxed out?  Our culture encourages us to live as if we have no limits.  So we fill up our schedules and empty our bank accounts.  We do as much as we can, spend as much as we can, and acquire as much as we can-all in an effort to get as much as we can out of life.
This study explains that the secret to getting more out of life is not doing more, but doing less.  We must learn to create margin to live the life God intended for us.  Facilitator – Michele Blank Location: AE106
