Hope Presbyterian Church supports the Faith in Action (previously Far Northwest) Caregivers program, which provides supportive,
caring services for seniors living in neighborhoods in far Northwest Austin, Cedar Park and Leander.
Their goal is to enhance the quality of life for seniors, and to help them remain in their own homes.
faith in Action Caregivers services include the following:
- Free transportation to doctor's appointments or errands such as grocery shopping
- "Senior Day Out" for seniors to gather together twice a month to socialize and play games
- Reading group for visually impaired seniors
- Free medical equipment loan closet
- Support services such as telephone reassurance and friendly visitors
Faith in Action Caregivers need caring volunteers to drive seniors to their doctors' appointments and help
them run errands. Volunteers use their own cars and must have a valid Texas drivers license and auto insurance.
Volunteer drivers are desperately needed. Volunteers are also needed to assist at
the "Senior Day Out" activity and as friendly visitors, readers and care-bringers.
