A Prayer Guide
Hope Presbyterian Church provides this prayer guide to help us focus on our own gifts, resources, and
abilities, and on Hope for the Future. The Capital Campaign Fund Activities and Education Center to be designed for
the Children and Youth relies on you to do your part so that we will have a
place for our children to grow and learn about Christian living.
DAY 1
Jeremiah 31:17 There is
hope for your future, says the LORD, and your children shall come back to
their own country.
Prayer: Beloved Lord, help each and every
one of us to recognize that the future begins now, with the gifts and
sacrifices we make for our children. Guide us in our choices that we may be
truly wise, and give them a place that they will want to come back to.
DAY 2
1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you has a part in it.
Prayer: Dear Lord, may your Holy
Spirit show me my place in the body of Christ and let me contribute my part
with a generous heart to your glory. Amen.
DAY 3
2
Corinthians 9:6-8 Remember this: Whoever sows
sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also
reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to
give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at
all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I
cheerfully offer these gifts to You and pray that they will be used in such
a way as to further Your Kingdom here on earth. Please let them be used to
bring Your Truths to the children of my church so that the children will
grow strong in the faith and always know of Your great love. Amen.
DAY 4
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you;
good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into
your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.
Prayer: Oh, God, we have been blessed, in
ways we often don’t even recognize. Let us find ways to pass those
blessings on to others, in growing Hope for our future. Amen.
DAY 5
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Teach us to pray, dear Lord, in a manner that blesses us
with knowledge of ways to act that will glorify your Name, and thus, show to
others the breadth
and depths your love.
DAY 6
Colossians
3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working
for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an
inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are
serving.
Prayer: Father, please
accept my gifts to the construction fund of my church and let them be used
to quickly build a much needed new educational building to reach more
children and bring them closer to the awesome love which You so freely give
to us. Amen
DAY 7
Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death, nor
life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to
come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Prayer: Our father, these are troubling
times, and we feel vulnerable in so many ways. Sometimes the very
foundations of our faith are shaken. Help us to turn to you in trust and
faith in your love “no matter what”. Amen.
DAY 8
Matthew 19:14 Jesus
said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom
of heaven belongs to such as these."
Prayer: Most Holy God, I
pray that we can quickly build the new educational building for the church
so that we can bring more children closer to your precious Son, our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ. We need to start the children early to let them always
know about the fantastic love You and Your Son have shown for them and for
me. Amen.
DAY 9
1 Kings 6:12-13 As for the temple you are building, if
you follow my decrees, carry out my regulations and keep all my commands and
obey them, I will fulfill through you the promises I gave to David your
father. And I will live among the Israelites and will not abandon my people
Israel.
Prayer: Dear Lord, just as Israel
invested care in building its physical temple, guide me in my giving to the
building of Hope and the temple of my soul. Amen.
DAY 10
Psalm 78:6-7 …that the next generation might know
them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so
that they should set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but
keep his commandments…
Prayer: Oh, Lord, there is so much in our
world today that demands our attention that we need you to remind us
steadily of the most important things: our faith and our children. Let us
have the boldness to place the two together, giving a place for you to our
children, and giving our children to you. Amen.
DAY 11
Malachi
3:10 "Bring all the
tithes into the storehouse so that there will be enough food in my Temple.
If you do," says the Lord Almighty, "I will open the windows of heaven for
you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t enough room to take it
in. Try it! Let me prove it to you."
Prayer: Holy Father, I
offer my gifts to the glory of Your Kingdom and pray that they will be used
to glorify Your mighty works and deeds and in grateful thanks for the many
wonderful blessings you continually pour over me. Amen
DAY 12
Proverbs 23:18 Surely there is a future, and your hope
will not be cut off.
Prayer: Lord, show us a way to provide a
future in the life of Hope Presbyterian. May You guide us to Your perfect
vision. Amen.
DAY 13
Isaiah 26:3-4 You will
keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because
he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the
Rock
eternal.
Prayer: Dear LORD, our eternal Rock, help us to know that in
trusting You
in all circumstances, we have the peace that the world cannot give. In
the name of Christ, who sacrificed Himself for us. Amen.
DAY 14
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good for
at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Prayer: Dear Lord, as I compare stories
of those who followed you in love and those who turned away, help me to
persevere in my work for your goodness and let me give you my all. Amen.
DAY 15
Hebrews 3: 6 But,
Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house,
if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.
Prayer: Dear LORD, let us never tire of being stewards in Your
House. Give
us courage to remain faithful to your mission. In Jesus' name. Amen.
DAY 16
Psalm 9: 10 Those who
know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never
forsaken those who seek you.
Prayer: LORD, open our hearts to know You more and to seek Your will
for
our lives and future. In Jesus' name. Amen.
DAY 17
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I
give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be
troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Prayer: Lord, our hearts are often afraid
and troubled. Help us to pray, to find your peace, and to allow you to
guide us in our decisions and our choices, which we may hear you say to us
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Amen.
DAY 18
1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we declare to you by the
word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of
the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.
Prayer: Dear God, show us Your way to
keep Hope Presbyterian Church alive and growing. Give us the wisdom to find
ways to spread Your good news. Amen.
DAY 19
James 2:14 Dear brothers and sisters, what is the use of
saying you have faith if you do not prove it by your actions? That kind of
faith cannot save anyone.
Prayer: Lord, open the eyes of our
hearts, that we may see the need and how we may serve, through the gifts you
have blessed us with. Amen.
DAY 20
Isaiah 40:30-31 Even youths shall
faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait
for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like
eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Prayer: Lord, you know it is our nature
to grow tired and even to become discouraged. Give us the faith, we pray, to
trust in your promise of renewed strength and to know the exultation of
“rising on wings like eagles”. Amen.
DAY 21
Proverbs
22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he
will not turn from it.
Prayer: Most merciful and
loving Father, please help me in training my children and other children
that You are a truly loving and wondrous God. Help me to let them understand
that the road to our salvation lies only through the gift of Your Son, Jesus
Christ, and we must all constantly study Your blessed Word for a deeper
understanding of what we have been so richly blessed with from Your love.
Amen.
DAY 22
Proverbs 13:22
A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, but sinner’s
wealth is stored up for the righteous.
Prayer: Dear Lord, let me not store my
earthly gifts but give me a discerning heart so that my children’s children
will benefit from generosity taught through Christ. Amen.
DAY 23
1 Kings
8:29 May your eyes be open toward this
temple night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name shall be
there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this
place.
Prayer: Father God, let my contributions
of time, talent and money be acceptable week after week as I enter houses
built for and dedicated to you. Amen.
DAY 24
Psalm 25:4-5 Show me
your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your
truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day
long.
Prayer: Thanks be to You, O LORD--our
Creator, Savior, and Sustainer-- that
we have eternal hope through Your grace. Help us to know Your Truth and
overcome any fears as we walk the paths you have laid before us. Through
Christ Jesus. Amen.
DAY 25
Isaiah 6:7-8 And he touched my mouth, and said:
"Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin
forgiven." And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and
who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
Prayer: Oh, God, I really don’t want a
burning coal on my lips, but I do need a clear and urgent call to be your
messenger. Through your love and power, help me to drop excuses and to find
strength and guidance for the work you would have me do. Amen.
DAY 26
Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city
set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a
bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your
light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory
to your Father who is in heaven.
Prayer: Oh, God, we are so prone to look
for praise, to seek approval, to be respected and honored. Help us to know
and remember that our mission is to glorify you and not ourselves. May any
good thing I accomplish bring praise to you and not to me. Amen.
DAY 27
1 Timothy 6:18-19 They are to do good, to be rich in
good deeds, liberal and generous, thus laying up for themselves a good
foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of the life, which is
life indeed.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help each
of us to give generously, making our gifts the stones in the solid
foundations of our children’s lives. Amen.
DAY 28
Psalm 27:1 The
Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the
strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your unfaltering love which fosters
faith, comfort, and support in times of overwhelming circumstances in each
of our lives.
Thank you for your support of Hope
